Description:

This lesson is LOADED with techniques and tricks that you can use for many other projects. It's rated advanced because some people have experience with wire, and some have experience with clay, but not many people work with both. ALL of the techniques used in this lesson are beginner or intermediate level, and when combined they present a great challenge.

You will learn how to make a mold, how to make a 3-dimensional hard form for shaping wire, how to coil and bead a wire shape, how to form wire picots, how to shape flowers and leaves in clay, how to shape the twisted border, how to assemble layers of clay and wire AND some great tips on how to get wire to stick to clay.

You don't have to make the whole piece. There are two stopping places where you can "call it done" and have a lovely pendant. Or you can keep going and add more layers and details. It's up to you.

My lessons are very conversational. I write as though I were sitting beside you, talking you through it. I'll show you where to avoid pitfalls and speed bumps. I've built in several places where we check your work and do a brief recap to make sure everything is on track before moving on to the next step.

If you aren't interested in hearts, you can use exactly the same steps and techniques on other shapes. Feel free to use other colors, too. You will notice that this calls for a pasta machine OR a roller and index cards. I wrote it that way so if you are relatively new to clay you can make this even if you don't have all the hardware yet.
