Tutorial:
Lilliput Gardens
|
Description: In this tutorial, you will learn the basics of conditioning and mixing colors, as well as how to texture sheets of clay, cut both predetermined and freeform shapes, create ruffled borders to frame your work, and form and place multiple types of miniature flowers. The items you create can be used as jewelry or embellishments for other artworks, such as boxes. (the most important thing you will learn, BTW, is how to deal with your friend’s astonishment at the breadth of your incredible talent). Note: the clay of choice is Premo or Fimo Soft; Scupley III is not suitable. This project requires very little clay to make several items, and is well suited to odds and ends of clay—look in your scrap box! This project is aimed at intermediate clayers who have all the standard equipement, but is just fine for beginners who love to work on a very small scale; as there is little sheeting required, a hand roller can be used in place of a pasta machine if desired.
